RUBENIUS Participates in COP 16 United Nations Conference on Climate Change

Dubai, UAE and Cancun, Mexico (November 22, 2010)

WHO:
RUBENIUS, a Dubai-based alternative energy and smart grid enabler, is participating in Green Solutions at COP 16 Energy Efficiency Program. Claus Rubenius, chairman of RUBENIUS, will be a panelist on the “Perspectives and potential of energy efficiency in the transition to a low carbon economy” panel.

WHAT:
COP 16/CMP 6 is the 16th edition of Conference of the Parties of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP) and the 6th Conference of the Parties serving as the meeting of the Parties to the Kyoto Protocol (CMP). The name COP refers to the English acronyms of the reunions of the State Parties on numerous international treaties (Conference of Parties). Due to the relevance of the subject within the international agenda, the name COP is related to climate change. These conferences are celebrated annually between the months of November and December. This year, the conference will take place in Cancun, Mexico.

Monday, December 6, 2010 from 11:00 - 13:40

WHERE:
The COP 16/CMP 6 will be held at the Moon Palace Hotel and the Cancun Messe

WHY:
The panel will try to answer the following questions:

  • What is the potential, regarding energy and economic saving, that can be achieved through energy efficiency?
  • What benefits do you expect, in terms of emissions, applying a policy of energy efficiency?
  • How can energy efficiency contribute to the energetic safety of a country, considering the cost of adapting current technologies?
  • What are the ideal conditions to boost a growth in the efficient use of energy?
  • How can we choose those actions related to energy efficiency that would cause a greater impact to nations, business and private citizens?
  • What role do governments have in order to encourage the efficient use of energy?
  • What measures have been taken by the governments to stimulate energy efficiency? What measures have had global success?
